New Britain Baseball had many notable alumni including Major League Most Valuable Players 3B Jeff Bagwell and 1B Mo Vaughn. MLB All-Stars OF Brady Anderson, OF Ellis Burks, RHP Aaron Sele, SS John Valentin and P and Curt Schilling also played in New Britain as did Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens. Both Bagwell and Schilling played their final years in the Red Sox minor league system in New Britain before being traded. In 1997, a young slugger named David Ortiz came through New Britain en route to the major leagues.
